10 Days
Overview

From the iconic pyramids of Giza to the crystalline waters of the Red Sea, this ten-day Egypt tour is a masterfully crafted blend of ancient wonders, vibrant culture, and well-earned relaxation. Accompanied throughout by expert Egyptologist guides, you will journey deep into one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating civilisations, uncovering its secrets at every turn.
Your adventure begins in Cairo, where the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the enigmatic Sphinx, and the treasure-filled Egyptian Museum set the tone for the days ahead. An overnight sleeper train carries you south to Aswan, a city where African and Middle Eastern cultures converge on the banks of a truly spectacular stretch of the Nile. Here, you’ll visit a traditional Nubian village, sail to the island Temple of Philae, and have the option of witnessing sunrise over the legendary temples of Abu Simbel.
A languid afternoon aboard a traditional felucca drifting down the Nile leads you to Luxor — ancient Thebes — where the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Karnak, and the illuminated Luxor Temple reveal the full grandeur of pharaonic civilisation. From there, the Eastern Desert gives way to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada, where two days of soft all-inclusive luxury await: world-class diving, snorkelling, and golden beaches to restore body and soul.
The journey concludes back in Cairo, with an evening stroll through the bazaars and backstreets of the old city — a fitting farewell to a country that has captivated travellers for thousands of years.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Cairo

Welcome to Egypt! Our dedicated airport team will greet you on arrival, help with your visa, and handle your luggage before transferring you to your five-star Cairo hotel. Once you’re checked in, a staff member will walk you through the local area and brief you on the next day’s plans. The rest of your evening is completely free.
Overnight: Cairo hotel

Day 2Pyramids, Sphinx & Egyptian Museum

Your Egyptian adventure begins with a scenic drive to Giza, where the three great pyramids dominate the skyline. Your expert Egyptologist guide brings millennia of history to life as you stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu — 500 feet tall and built from millions of precisely placed limestone blocks. Alongside it stand the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, equally impressive in scale and mystery. You’ll have the chance to descend inside the pyramids if you wish. After Giza, head to the Egyptian Museum, home to one of the world’s greatest collections of ancient artefacts, including the legendary golden treasures of Tutankhamun. In the evening, transfer to the station for an overnight sleeper train to Aswan — dinner served in your private twin-berth compartment as Egypt’s landscape rolls past.
Overnight sleeper train
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3Aswan, Nubian Village & Philae Temple

Morning sees you pull into Aswan, one of Egypt’s most atmospheric cities, where the Nile narrows and deepens into something almost painterly — lush islands, drifting feluccas, and golden light on the water. Check in to your Nile-view hotel, then immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant blend of African and Middle Eastern culture. You’ll visit a traditional Nubian village, where brightly painted houses line quiet lanes and a warm community welcome awaits over a home-cooked lunch. In the afternoon, a short boat ride delivers you to the island Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and dramatically rescued from rising Nile waters in a feat of international engineering. The evening is yours to wander the spice markets and the popular Corniche promenade along the river.
Overnight: Aswan
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 4Abu Simbel (optional) & Nile Felucca Cruise

Rise early for an optional dawn visit to Abu Simbel, the UNESCO-listed colossus temples of Ramses II, where the sunrise transforms the stone façades into something almost supernatural. If you skip Abu Simbel, the morning is yours to enjoy Aswan at a leisurely pace. At lunchtime, the whole group boards a traditional felucca — a broad-sailed wooden boat — and sets off down the Nile. This is Egypt at its most timeless: river breezes, passing villages, and your skilled Nubian crew keeping the mood light and the food coming. A separate support boat accompanies you with toilet, shower, and kitchen facilities. Tonight, sleep on the boat’s open deck under a vast, star-filled Egyptian sky, with mattresses, blankets, and mosquito nets provided. A hotel upgrade is available for those who prefer more comfort.
Overnight: On board felucca
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5Edfu Temple & Luxor by Night

After a final breakfast on the Nile, you say farewell to your felucca crew and disembark for the magnificent Temple of Edfu, one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient sanctuaries, dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Its towering pylon entrance and remarkably intact inner chambers give a vivid sense of what temple life once looked like. From Edfu, continue north to Luxor — the ancient city of Thebes — which sits at the heart of the greatest concentration of ancient monuments on Earth. Check in to your luxurious five-star hotel on the Nile, and take the afternoon to unwind by the pool. As the sun sets, head out on a guided walking tour of Luxor Temple, beautifully floodlit against the night sky and buzzing with atmosphere right in the centre of the modern town.
Overnight: Luxor hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Day 6Valley of the Kings & Karnak Temple

An early Nile crossing takes you to Luxor’s West Bank, home to the legendary Valley of the Kings — an ancient royal necropolis still surrendering its secrets to archaeologists today. You’ll enter several elaborately decorated pharaonic tombs, and also visit the sweeping mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the artisans’ village of Deir el-Medina, and the towering Colossi of Memnon. For the adventurous, a hot air balloon ride at sunrise over the West Bank offers an unforgettable bird’s-eye perspective. After lunch, cross back to the East Bank for Karnak — the largest religious complex ever built, with its forest of 134 towering hypostyle columns, sphinx-lined avenues, and walls dense with hieroglyphic inscriptions that once served as the beating heart of ancient Egyptian religious life.
Overnight: Luxor hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Day 7Drive to Hurghada, Red Sea Resort

After a relaxed morning, you leave the ancient world behind and head east through the Eastern Desert towards the Red Sea. The journey is a striking contrast — barren golden mountains giving way to a glittering turquoise coastline as you arrive in the international resort town of Hurghada. Check in to your five-star beachfront resort, where your stay is on a soft all-inclusive basis covering all meals, snacks, and soft drinks throughout your time here. Spend the rest of the afternoon as you please — by the pool, on the beach, or exploring the resort. After the non-stop history and sightseeing of the past week, this is a well-earned chance to slow down, breathe in the sea air, and simply relax in a genuinely beautiful setting on one of the world’s most celebrated bodies of water.
Overnight: Hurghada resort
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 8Free Day at the Red Sea

Today is entirely your own — a rare and welcome luxury. Hurghada is world-famous for its coral reefs and exceptional visibility, making it one of the finest diving and snorkelling destinations on the planet. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a first-timer, the marine life here is extraordinary. Prefer to stay dry? Try wind or kite surfing, join a glass-bottomed submarine excursion, take a sea fishing trip, go quad biking in the desert, or simply sink into a sunlounger with a good book. The marina and old town are also worth exploring for local flavour. Your on-the-ground Hurghada representative is available throughout the day to book any activities you fancy. If you’d like to extend your time here with additional nights, just ask — though note that doing so means leaving the group for the final Cairo leg.
Overnight: Hurghada resort
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9Return to Cairo & Old City Tour

This morning, the convoy sets off on the five-hour drive back to Cairo — an internal flight upgrade is available if you’d prefer. On arrival, check in to a centrally located five-star hotel before heading out for one of the trip’s most atmospheric experiences: a guided walk through the labyrinthine streets and bazaars of Old Cairo. You’ll pass through the monumental Bab al-Futuh gateway and wind through lanes dedicated entirely to metalwork, spices, pottery, jewellery, and textiles — a sensory overload in the best possible way. Eventually you’ll reach the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar, where a pause for sweet mint tea provides a perfect moment to reflect on your journey. It’s also your last real opportunity to stock up on Egyptian souvenirs, from alabaster figurines to hand-woven scarves.
Overnight: Cairo hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Day 10Free Time & Departure

Your final morning in Egypt is yours to fill however you like. If your flight departs in the afternoon or evening, a half-day tour is a great option — choose between a visit to Coptic Cairo and the grand hilltop Citadel of Saladin, or a journey south to Saqqara, Dahshur, and Memphis to trace the full evolution of pyramid building from step pyramid to true pyramid. Alternatively, those adding extra nights can take a full-day trip to the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, or venture into the Western Desert to visit the remarkable Valley of the Whales at Wadi Rayan — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When the time comes, your driver will transfer you to Cairo International Airport. It’s been quite a journey; Egypt rarely leaves its visitors unchanged. Safe travels.
