Jordan and Egypt Desert and Nile Family Adventure

After breakfast, we travel north from Amman to the ancient city of Jerash, often called the “Jewel of the North.” Considered one of the best-preserved Roman cities outside Italy, Jerash showcases magnificent ruins that date back more than 6,500 years. Hidden beneath desert sands for centuries, the city has been carefully restored, revealing impressive colonnaded streets, grand plazas, temples, theaters, and arches that reflect the glory of Roman urban design in the Middle East. Walking through Jerash feels like stepping back in time as you explore its remarkably preserved ruins and learn about the civilizations that once thrived here.
In the afternoon, we return to Amman for a guided city tour. Known as the “White City” because of its limestone buildings, Amman combines ancient heritage with modern culture. Our visit includes the Citadel, home to the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace, and a Byzantine church overlooking the city skyline. We also explore the famous Roman Theatre, a 6,000-seat amphitheater dating back to the Roman era when Amman was known as Philadelphia.
The day offers a fascinating insight into Jordan’s rich historical legacy and cultural diversity.

Today we leave Amman behind and journey south toward Petra along the scenic King’s Highway, one of Jordan’s most historic and beautiful routes. The drive takes us through dramatic landscapes filled with deep wadis, olive groves, and traditional rural villages. Our first stop is Madaba, famous for its extraordinary Byzantine mosaics. At the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, we’ll view the renowned 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land, one of the oldest surviving maps of the region.
Next, we continue to Mount Nebo, believed to be the burial place of the Prophet Moses. From this sacred hilltop, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across the Jordan Valley and toward the Holy Land. As we travel farther south, we cross spectacular valleys, including Wadi al-Mujib, where the road winds dramatically through a deep canyon surrounded by rugged cliffs and greenery.
We also visit Kerak Castle, an impressive Crusader fortress built in the 12th century along the ancient caravan route between Egypt and Syria. Its massive stone walls and commanding hilltop position tell stories of battles between Crusaders and Saladin.
By evening, we arrive in Petra and check into our hotel. You may relax or choose the optional Petra by Candlelight experience for a magical introduction to the ancient city.

Today is devoted to exploring Petra, Jordan’s most iconic archaeological treasure and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Once the thriving capital of the Nabataean Kingdom, Petra was carved directly into vibrant sandstone cliffs over 2,000 years ago. Hidden for centuries and rediscovered in 1812, the city remains one of the world’s most extraordinary historical sites.
Our exploration begins with a guided tour through the Siq, a narrow canyon flanked by towering rock walls rising up to 200 meters high. As you walk through this dramatic passageway, you’ll notice ancient water channels and carvings created by the Nabataeans. Suddenly, the magnificent Treasury appears at the end of the gorge, its intricate façade glowing in shades of pink and gold. Your guide will explain the fascinating history and architecture of this remarkable monument.
Beyond the Treasury, Petra opens into a vast valley filled with royal tombs, temples, colonnaded streets, and a Roman amphitheater. After the guided portion, you’ll have free time to explore independently. Adventurous travelers may hike to the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice for stunning panoramic views.
Later in the afternoon, we continue to the dramatic desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. Here, we stay in a traditional Bedouin camp surrounded by towering sandstone mountains beneath a sky filled with stars.

After breakfast, we set out on an exciting Jeep safari through the spectacular desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. Known for its towering red sandstone mountains, sweeping valleys, and endless desert scenery, Wadi Rum became famous through the writings of T.E. Lawrence during the Arab Revolt and later through the film Lawrence of Arabia. During the safari, you’ll discover dramatic rock formations, ancient desert trails, and breathtaking panoramic views that showcase the beauty of Jordan’s wilderness.
After exploring the desert, we journey north toward the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth at more than 400 meters below sea level. Surrounded by mountains and rich in minerals, the Dead Sea is one of Jordan’s most unique natural wonders. Fed by the Jordan River, its intensely salty waters create an unforgettable floating experience unlike anywhere else in the world.
During our visit, you’ll have time to relax and float effortlessly in the mineral-rich waters while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and stunning scenery. The area also carries deep historical and biblical significance, believed to have once been home to the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
In the evening, we return to Amman for our final night in Jordan, offering time to reflect on the unforgettable experiences and landscapes encountered throughout the journey.

Today your Jordan adventure comes to an end as we transfer you to Amman Airport for your onward flight to Cairo. Upon arrival in Egypt, our local representatives will meet you at the airport and assist with visa procedures, luggage collection, and your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, the remainder of the day is free for you to relax or begin discovering the vibrant atmosphere of Cairo at your own pace.
Cairo, one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating cities, offers a remarkable blend of ancient history and modern energy. From bustling streets and colorful bazaars to historic mosques and Nile-side cafés, the Egyptian capital promises endless opportunities for exploration. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to enjoy a leisurely walk, sample authentic Egyptian cuisine, or simply unwind after your travels.
Please note that flights between Amman and Cairo are not included in the package price, allowing flexibility to arrange flights according to your travel plans and preferences. All airport transfers in both Jordan and Egypt are included for a smooth and comfortable journey.

Today marks the beginning of your Egyptian adventure with a visit to one of the world’s most iconic archaeological sites — the Pyramids of Giza. Located on the outskirts of Cairo, the three great pyramids were built over 4,500 years ago for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Standing proudly against the desert skyline, these monumental structures remain among the most extraordinary achievements of the ancient world.
Accompanied by an expert Egyptologist guide, you’ll gain fascinating insight into ancient Egyptian civilization, the beliefs surrounding the afterlife, and the incredible engineering methods used to construct the pyramids. Those who wish can also venture inside one of the pyramids for a unique and unforgettable experience. Nearby stands the mysterious Great Sphinx, carved from a single block of limestone and believed to guard the pyramids. Hidden beneath desert sands for centuries, it was fully uncovered only in the early 20th century.
In the afternoon, we travel south along the Nile Valley toward Luxor, passing traditional villages and lush farmland. Upon arrival, we check into our comfortable hotel on the banks of the Nile and prepare for the incredible ancient wonders awaiting us tomorrow.

Today we discover the treasures of Luxor, often described as the world’s greatest open-air museum. Situated along the Nile River, Luxor was once the magnificent ancient city of Thebes, capital of Egypt during the height of the New Kingdom. The city is divided between the East Bank, dedicated to the living, and the West Bank, home to tombs and mortuary temples honoring the dead.
Our tour introduces you to some of Luxor’s most impressive historical landmarks. On the East Bank, we explore the majestic temples of Luxor and Karnak, connected in ancient times by the remarkable Avenue of Sphinxes. These vast temple complexes showcase towering columns, colossal statues, sacred sanctuaries, and beautifully carved hieroglyphics that reveal stories of gods, pharaohs, and ancient rituals.
After sightseeing, the afternoon is free for relaxation at the hotel or exploring the lively streets of Luxor. You may enjoy a traditional Egyptian coffeehouse, sample local cuisine, or experience the city’s laid-back Nile atmosphere.
In the evening, an optional visit to Luxor Temple offers a magical experience. Beautifully illuminated after dark, the temple takes on an entirely different atmosphere beneath the night sky, creating unforgettable views and photographs.

This morning, we cross to Luxor’s West Bank, known as the “City of the Dead,” where generations of pharaohs and nobles were buried among the desert hills. Our first visit is to the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most remarkable rulers and one of the few female pharaohs in history. Built dramatically into the cliffs, the temple’s elegant terraces and colonnades blend beautifully with the surrounding landscape.
We continue to the famous Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of ancient pharaohs were hidden deep within the mountains. Decorated with colorful hieroglyphics and scenes from the afterlife, these tombs provide an extraordinary glimpse into ancient Egyptian beliefs and burial traditions. We also visit Deir el-Medina, once home to the skilled artisans who built and decorated the royal tombs. Here, you’ll learn about the daily lives of the workers behind Egypt’s greatest monuments.
Nearby stand the colossal statues known as the Colossi of Memnon, silent guardians that have watched over the Nile Valley for thousands of years.
The afternoon is free for relaxation or optional activities, including a visit to Karnak Temple or a breathtaking sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor’s ancient landscape.

Today we journey north from Luxor to explore two of Egypt’s most fascinating and beautifully preserved temple complexes: Dendara and Abydos. Far less crowded than the famous sites of Luxor, these temples offer a peaceful and immersive experience into ancient Egyptian spirituality and architecture.
Our first stop is the Temple of Dendara, dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love, music, and motherhood. Renowned for its remarkable state of preservation, Dendara features magnificent halls, towering columns, colorful ceilings, and intricate carvings that remain vivid despite the passage of thousands of years. Many travelers consider this temple one of Egypt’s hidden treasures because of its extraordinary detail and atmosphere.
We then continue to Abydos, one of the most sacred religious sites in ancient Egypt. Dedicated to Osiris, the god of the underworld, Abydos was an important pilgrimage destination for ancient Egyptians seeking blessings and connection to the afterlife. The site once contained numerous temples and burial grounds, and today its beautifully decorated walls and hieroglyphics remain deeply impressive.
After exploring these extraordinary monuments, we return to Luxor. The evening is free to relax by the Nile or reflect on another unforgettable day discovering the wonders of ancient Egypt.

This morning, we depart Luxor and travel south toward Edfu to visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Built during the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BC, the temple is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god of kingship and protection. Massive stone walls, towering gateways, and detailed carvings depicting ancient myths and religious ceremonies make this temple an exceptional example of ancient Egyptian architecture. Walking through its grand halls and sacred chambers offers a vivid glimpse into Egypt’s ancient spiritual traditions.
After our visit, we continue our journey along the Nile toward Kom Ombo. Here, we explore the unique double temple dedicated to both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. Its perfectly symmetrical design includes twin entrances, sanctuaries, and ceremonial halls. The walls are decorated with fascinating carvings, including depictions of ancient medical instruments and religious rituals.
Later, we board a traditional felucca sailboat for a peaceful journey along the Nile toward Aswan. Drifting slowly on the river offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the timeless beauty of Egypt’s landscapes and riverside villages. Tonight, we sleep aboard the felucca, accompanied by a support boat providing toilet and shower facilities.

Early this morning, you may choose to join an optional excursion to the breathtaking temples of Abu Simbel, located near the shores of Lake Nasser. Built by Ramses II, these colossal rock-cut temples are among Egypt’s most awe-inspiring monuments. Famous for their gigantic statues and intricate interior carvings, the temples were carefully dismantled and relocated during the construction of the Aswan High Dam to protect them from flooding. Their dramatic setting and extraordinary history make Abu Simbel one of Egypt’s greatest treasures.
For those remaining in Aswan, the morning can be spent exploring the city’s colorful markets, strolling along the scenic Corniche, or visiting the Nubian Museum to learn about the rich culture and history of the Nubian people.
In the afternoon, we take a boat trip to the beautiful Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Situated on an island in the Nile, this elegant temple complex was also relocated stone by stone to save it from rising waters after the creation of Lake Nasser. Surrounded by tranquil waters and palm trees, Philae is one of Egypt’s most picturesque ancient sites.
Later this evening, we return to Cairo for our final night together in Egypt.

Today marks the end of your unforgettable journey through Jordan and Egypt. Depending on your flight schedule, you will have free time for some final sightseeing, shopping, or relaxation before your transfer to Cairo International Airport for departure. We recommend booking an afternoon or evening flight to allow extra time to explore more of Cairo’s rich cultural heritage.
An optional morning tour is available to visit the famous Egyptian Museum, home to one of the world’s greatest collections of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Highlights include treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun, ancient statues, jewelry, mummies, and countless relics spanning thousands of years of history. This visit offers the perfect conclusion to your exploration of Egypt’s remarkable past.
You may also choose optional excursions to Saqqara, Dashur, and Memphis, where you can discover some of Egypt’s oldest pyramids and the remains of the ancient capital of the Old Kingdom. Alternatively, spend your final hours wandering through Cairo’s lively bazaars, relaxing in a traditional café, or enjoying views of the Nile one last time.
At the appropriate time, we transfer you to the airport, bringing your incredible Middle Eastern adventure to a memorable close.
