Day 1Arrival in Cairo – Gateway to the Land of the Pharaohs

Welcome to Cairo, the vibrant capital of Egypt and the gateway to one of the world’s oldest civilizations. Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, our representative will meet and assist you with visa formalities and luggage before transferring you to your hotel. After check-in, you will receive a short briefing about your upcoming journey through Egypt’s ancient wonders.

The remainder of the day is at leisure. If you arrive early, you may wish to attend an optional the spectacular Sound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids, where the story of the pharaohs is dramatically told against the illuminated monuments.

Day 2Cairo – The Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx & Egyptian Museum

Today you will explore some of the most legendary monuments of ancient Egypt. Your day begins at the Egyptian Museum, home to one of the largest collections of Pharaonic antiquities in the world. Among its many treasures are the priceless artifacts of King Tutankhamun, including his famous golden mask.

Afterwards, travel to the Giza Plateau to witness the majestic pyramids built during the Old Kingdom more than 4,500 years ago. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, stands alongside the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure. Nearby lies the enigmatic Great Sphinx, carved from a single limestone ridge and believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre.

In the evening, transfer to the railway station to board the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.

Day 3Luxor – Valley of the Kings & West Bank Treasures

Arrive in Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes, once the magnificent capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom. Crossing to the West Bank of the Nile, you will explore the Valley of the Kings, the sacred royal necropolis where pharaohs of the 18th to 20th dynasties were buried in elaborately decorated tombs carved deep into the desert cliffs.

Continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, an architectural masterpiece dedicated to Egypt’s most successful female pharaoh. You will also visit Deir el-Medina, the village of the ancient craftsmen who created the royal tombs, and the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have guarded the west bank for over 3,000 years.

In the evening, visit the beautifully illuminated Luxor Temple, a stunning monument dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship.

Day 4Luxor – The Great Temples of Karnak

Enjoy a relaxing morning before visiting one of the greatest religious complexes ever built in the ancient world: Karnak Temple. For nearly two thousand years, successive pharaohs expanded this vast sanctuary dedicated primarily to Amun-Ra, the king of the gods.

Walk through the grand entrance pylons and explore the famous Hypostyle Hall, where 134 towering columns rise like a stone forest, decorated with intricate hieroglyphs and scenes of ancient rituals. The complex once connected to Luxor Temple through the Avenue of Sphinxes, used during grand religious festivals such as the Opet Festival.

Optional early-morning hot air balloon flights over Luxor offer breathtaking views of the Nile and its ancient monuments.

Day 5Luxor – Leisure Day in the Ancient Capital

Today is free for you to relax or explore more of Luxor’s extraordinary archaeological sites. Optional excursions include visits to the Ramesseum, the mortuary temple of Ramesses II, the magnificent Temple of Medinet Habu built by Ramesses III, or the Valley of the Queens where royal wives and children were buried.

You may also explore Luxor’s local markets, visit the Luxor Museum with its carefully curated artifacts, or enjoy a peaceful felucca sailing trip on the Nile to Banana Island.

In the evening, transfer to the railway station for the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo.

Day 6Cairo – Old Cairo & Khan El-Khalili Bazaar

After arriving in Cairo, you will have free time to explore the city or join optional excursions. Possibilities include visiting the ancient pyramid fields of Saqqara, Dahshur, and Memphis, which illustrate the evolution of pyramid construction before the pyramids of Giza.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk through the historic streets of Old Cairo. Enter through the impressive Bab al-Futuh gate and wander through traditional markets filled with craftsmen, spices, fabrics, and jewelry. The walk concludes at the famous Khan El-Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest marketplaces in the Middle East, where you can relax with mint tea while soaking in the lively atmosphere.

Day 7Departure from Cairo

After breakfast, enjoy some free time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing before your transfer to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight.

Optional tours can be arranged today, including visits to Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast or desert excursions to the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Whales at Wadi El-Rayan.
