Your exploration of Egypt begins with a visit to the world-famous Egyptian Museum, home to an unparalleled collection of Pharaonic antiquities. Following your museum tour, we travel to the outskirts of Cairo to Giza, where the Sphinx and the three Great Pyramids await. The Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) rises majestically at 500 feet high with a base width of 750 feet, a remarkable testament to ancient engineering. Originally encased in polished limestone, the pyramid’s inner structure is now exposed, revealing the massive stone blocks that make up this iconic wonder. Alongside it, the smaller yet equally fascinating pyramids of Khafre (Chephren) and Menkaure (Mycerinus) create an awe-inspiring spectacle against the desert horizon.
For those who wish to experience the interior of a pyramid, limited tickets are available for the Great Pyramid, allowing you to descend into its historic chambers. After absorbing the grandeur of Giza, we will transfer you to the train station for your overnight journey to Luxor. The sleeper train journey spans approximately nine hours, providing private twin-berth compartments where you can relax and dine onboard. We arrive in Luxor early this morning, greeted by the sight of the Nile and the desert beyond. After crossing the river, we begin our exploration of Luxor’s famed West Bank. The highlight here is the Valley of the Kings, a necropolis of monumental significance where pharaohs were laid to rest in elaborately decorated tombs. During your guided tour, you will enter several tombs, marveling at the vibrant hieroglyphics and scenes depicting the pharaohs’ journey to the afterlife.
Next, we visit the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a striking architectural achievement carved into the cliffs, showcasing terraces adorned with statues and reliefs that commemorate her reign. We continue to Deir el-Medina, the village of ancient craftsmen who constructed the tombs, and conclude the morning with a stop at the colossal statues of Memnon, which have stood for over three millennia as silent witnesses to history.
The afternoon is yours to relax at your 5-star hotel along the Nile, perhaps enjoying the pool, spa, or simply taking in the riverside scenery. As the sun sets, we return to the city center to visit Luxor Temple, beautifully illuminated at night, offering a magical ambiance that captures the grandeur of ancient Egypt.

After lunch, we will tour the vast Karnak Temple complex, once the religious heart of Thebes and Upper Egypt. The temple was connected to Luxor Temple by a grand avenue lined with sphinx statues and to the Nile via a sacred canal where the boats of Amun would sail during religious ceremonies.
Entering through a smaller sphinx-lined avenue built by Ramesses II, you are greeted by the imposing pylons and massive courtyards of the complex. Within the temple, three chapels honor the gods Amun, Khonsu, and Mut. The Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 towering columns adorned with hieroglyphics and carvings of pharaohs and deities, creates an awe-inspiring spectacle that evokes the religious and cultural significance of the site.
For early risers seeking a breathtaking perspective of Luxor, a hot air balloon excursion over the West Bank at sunrise offers panoramic views of the Nile, temples, and desert landscapes.

Today is entirely at your leisure, offering the freedom to explore Luxor or simply relax at your hotel. For those interested in further historical exploration, optional tours abound. Recommended sites include the Ramesseum, the temple of Medinat Habu, and the Valley of the Queens on the West Bank, where royal tombs reveal Egypt’s ancient dynastic history. The Luxor Museum, with its collection of statues and artifacts, provides additional insight into local antiquities.
Alternatively, you might prefer to experience Luxor from a different perspective: wander through local markets, visit the Mummification Museum, or take a serene felucca boat trip to Banana Island. Your guide can assist in arranging these optional excursions, ensuring a personalized experience tailored to your interests.
In the evening, we transfer you back to the train station to board the sleeper train for Cairo. Private compartments and onboard dinner make the journey comfortable, with the scenic Nile and desert landscapes passing quietly by as you rest for the night. The morning is flexible, allowing you to tailor the day to your preferences. Optional tours include a comprehensive city tour of Cairo, featuring Coptic Cairo, the medieval Citadel, and the striking Mohamed Ali Mosque, or a half-day excursion to Saqqara, Dashur, and Memphis to explore the evolution of pyramid construction across Egypt’s ancient history.
Full-day tours offer excursions further afield, such as a visit to Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast, with its historical landmarks and seaside charm, or a desert journey to Wadi Rayan, home to the World Heritage Site known as the Valley of the Whales. Please note that participating in these full-day tours will limit time available for other activities in Cairo.
In the late afternoon, we embark on a guided stroll through the labyrinthine streets of Old Cairo, starting at the monumental Bab al-Futuh gateway. As we wander, you will encounter streets filled with craftsmen specializing in metalwork, spices, textiles, jewelry, and pottery, gradually making your way to the vibrant Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Here, you can sample mint tea and shop for unique souvenirs, all while soaking in the lively atmosphere of Cairo’s most famous marketplace.
